McLaughlin was on foot. A 2019 Nissan Sentra traveling north in the left turn lane struck him. He was taken to Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center with serious injuries and died there.

Read that phrase carefully, because it does three things and only three:

• It says that as of that reporting, no charge had been filed against anyone.
