Corrections and Removals Policy
How we handle errors, updates and removal requests.
How to request a correction
Email [email protected] with the page URL and what is inaccurate. Include a source if you have one. We aim to respond within one business day.
How we correct
When we correct a factual error, we fix it in the article and add a dated correction note at the bottom of that page. We do not quietly edit and move on.
Updates versus corrections
Breaking stories change. When new information is released by an agency, we update the page and change the "Updated" timestamp. That is an update, not a correction. Corrections are reserved for things we got wrong.
Removal requests
We consider removal requests case by case, with particular weight given to: charges that were dropped or dismissed, records that have been expunged or sealed, and cases involving minors.
If charges against you were dropped, dismissed, expunged or sealed, tell us and provide documentation. We will update or remove the page.
We do not charge any fee to correct, update or remove a page. Anyone who asks you to pay for removal from this site is not us.
People named in crime coverage
We name people only when they have already been named by a named news outlet or an official agency release. We describe people as charged, never as guilty, and every such person is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
