A fight broke out between students at Eagle Woods Academy in DeKalb County on Tuesday morning, Aug. 18, and pepper spray was discharged during the altercation, DeKalb County Schools confirmed, according to FOX 5 Atlanta and WSB-TV.

It happened around 10:30 a.m., WSB-TV reported. The district's account was that students fought and that pepper spray was used, both WSB-TV and Atlanta News First reported.

What caused the fight has not been released. FOX 5 Atlanta reported that officials had not confirmed what set off the altercation, and Atlanta News First reported that what led to the fight was not released.

How large was the emergency response?

FOX 5 Atlanta reported a heavy emergency response at the school. The outlet said its SKY FOX 5 aerial footage that Tuesday morning showed several unmarked law enforcement vehicles parked on the Eagle Woods Academy grounds.

A fire unit and medical units were sent to the campus by DeKalb County Fire and Rescue, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.

Atlanta News First reported that police are investigating and described it as a developing story. The extent of any injuries beyond the school resource officer's allergic reaction was not released, that outlet reported.
