What happened on Main Street in Woodstock?

A van and a Cherokee County School District bus were involved in an accident on Main Street near the Highway 92 intersection in Woodstock, WSB-TV reported Tuesday morning.

Traffic reporter Mike Shields placed the scene there, and camera views showed the investigation holding Main Street’s northbound side along with one right-hand lane of Highway 92.

Traffic camera views showed the van at the back of the bus. That sequence is an appearance on camera and is preliminary; how the two vehicles came together has not been established, and no agency has stated a cause.

All 20 students on the bus and its driver are safe, Lane said in a message to families. The bus is No. 050 and serves Woodstock Elementary School. Whether anyone in the van was hurt has not been released.

Police described the accident as serious, FOX 5 Atlanta and Atlanta News First reported. Woodstock police posted a traffic alert at 7:17 a.m. Tuesday, and Woodstock Fire and Rescue worked the scene alongside officers. Police asked drivers to avoid the area while the two agencies were still there.

Nobody involved has been identified, and no age has been given for anyone at the scene.
